Ran some errands, did some laundry, wrote some on my rewrite today. Not a terribly productive day, but at least I worked on both cleaning stuff and writing stuff. Pretty good considering I went to bed at about 3 AM.
The Dark Knight Rises was great. I really loved it. I can see where some of the flaws people are complaining about are coming from, but the only thing that bothered me particularly was Bane’s dialog being mostly incomprehensible. All the other things people are griping about in the reviews didn’t really bother me. And I didn’t get sleepy, even though it was almost 1AM when it was over. I did get slightly nauseous in places, as much from the sound overload as the action, I think. In one scene, I actually had my fingers in my ears and still heard everything just fine. There were some silly bits from a writing perspective, but the acting was very nice, and I enjoyed seeing familiar faces in some bit/small parts.
It drove me crazy half the pit scenes until I finally remembered Tom Conti’s name… One of my prized possessions is the letter that I received from him in response to a fan letter I wrote over 20 years ago. When an actor/writer/celebrity of any ilk takes time to write something personal, they win a fan for life in my book. 🙂
Till tomorrow–
