Been another long day that started exceptionally early. But it’s gone a bit better than yesterday.

I woke up before 7 again, but in a way it was very peaceful, as I get a lot of my rituals — email, comics, so on — checked before Newell is up. But he got up early today too, so maybe that is an added bonus. If he gets out and on the road to work early, it means he is more likely to please the boss set.

Since they told me yesterday to drive my car a lot to get it ready for inspection, I decided to go get my registration tags taken care of and head up to Georgetown, as I said yesterday. Got that done, and had first highway drive. Babe behaved beautifully. 🙂

Had a nice visit, with lunch at Mom and Dad’s. She made us 3-2-1 cakes for dessert. Do you know about these? They are the coolest. Newell loves to make one up for a snack, and it is good that he can make himself something I don’t feel obligated to share. He usually doubles the recipe and adds cinnamon, but I make mine to the specs. Our current mix is angel food/orange cake, but Mom had angel food/chocolate. The second cake mix can vary, but the first HAS to be angel food. We never wait the 15 minutes that linked page says to before eating them. If you try it, let me know what you think. They are great little treats when you just need a bite of something.

After the cake, I headed home on the toll road, so I could have a straight shot back to Austin without much chance of policemen. At least that was my theory. And it was true, but what I had forgotten was the 80 MPH speed limit on that road! I was a little hesitant to put her through quite that much of a shakedown drive, but she did fine. I didn’t get to 80 for much of the trip, but I did hit it a couple of times, and it felt smoother than the old days.

When I got home, I goofed off for a while, but I really did get something done today. I rearranged the garage to where I THINK both cars will fit into it. We’ll see when Newell gets home. That is probably it today. And tomorrow will probably be about the same. I called and asked if that was enough miles to recheck the inspection, but they didn’t think so. Tomorrow will probably require another road trip.

Darn. 😉

  1. 80 MPH?!? Boy, and Jaret was already yearning to go to Texas. That will just seal the deal 🙂
