Today’s big adventure was a trip to the grocery store. At least it was a solid hour of walking around, which adds up exercise-wise. I am loving my phone some more. Wrote my grocery list as a memo and erased each line as I found the item. I added things that WEREN’T on the list, but at least everything I remembered to write down was bought. 🙂
Strolled through the Sunset Valley Artisans Market (link is to the parent Farmer’s Market, because the Artisan Market website didn’t seem to be working) looking for a birthday present for my dad, but didn’t see anything he would be likely to be interested in. Lots of nice jewelry, but he makes that himself. There was a truck from the Austin Humane Society with kittens needing adoption, however, and I ALMOST decided we really needed another one, but since this was before the grocery store, logic prevailed.
I did get the ingredients I need for my summer favorite Watermelon Gazpacho today. Can’t wait to mix up the first batch of the season. It always comes out slightly different, as I mainly have a list of ingredients from a friend and no proportions, but this recipe is fairly close, though I add tomatoes as well. Fairly light on the calories as well as tasty and cool on a hot summer night. Give it a try! And let me know if you tweak it so I can try it your way. 🙂
I cannot stress enough how great the My Fitness Pal app for Android is. (And you can’t beat the price.) I am closing in on 185 — and since I started the year at 200, that’s quite a difference. I’d say at least 10 pounds of that is since I started watching my calories like a hawk with the app every day. My ultimate goal is 130…so I still have a LOOONNNGGG way to go, but it is starting to feel noticeable. 🙂
Enough rambling for today. I do hope you are enjoying my meanderings, even on days when the cleaning is minimal. Till tomorrow —
I actually started running last month (you’ll see a post about it tomorrow). Since then, I’ve lost about 12 lbs. Not too shabby 🙂 Keep the encouragement coming!
I would love to run, but there are two things stopping me…lol. Even with sports bras running is not pleasant. One of the reasons I want to lose the weight is that I can’t convince my doctor to refer me for a reduction until I lose the weight…which would be easier to do if it were easier to exercise…a vicious Catch 22, and more info than you wanted! 😉
Congrats on your loss to date. What is your ultimate goal? (Though you look pretty darn skinny to me, Missy!)
Ideally, probably around 150 (I’m 5′ 10″), and I’m currently round about 200. Short term, around 175 (what I weighed when I got married 4 years ago, and before our all inclusive honeymoon). You’ll see me in my running gear tomorrow 🙂 I have an “athletic build”, but my “blessing” is in the posterior, not in my chest 🙂 But I’m not complaining!
Since I am 5’2″ (on a good day) you can see why I want that extra 20 pounds off! We’ll keep each other honest. 😉
Deal 😀
