Today was my niece’s birthday, so I went in with Newell hoping he would get off in time to go to the family get-together this evening. Unfortunately, he didn’t.

But since I was on the town today, I went to see The Hunger Games because I loved the books and wanted to see what they did with it. (This isn’t going to be a review. I may post that later on the RieWriter site.) I will say I thought the acting was great, and the script worked well…but was it just me — like do I need new glasses? — or was the entire movie slightly out of focus?

Between that and the sometimes shaky camera work I was nauseous the entire film. I was seriously afraid I would have to bail on it, and I really didn’t want to. I haven’t had that sort of reaction to a film since The Blair Witch Project which I actually DID have to leave and throw up — twice. Yes, I tried that one again, and made it to another spot and had to leave again. My niece was with me the second time, and she had no problem at all.

I do recommend the film — particularly if you have read the book, because they encapsulate it well — but I might have Dramamine, just in case.

And as soon as I finish reading the Amber series, I know what I am going to re-read…
